KOZHIKODE: Thamarassery bishop Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil has said that the decisions taken by the state government on the buffer zone issue was reassuring and he added that the diocese was viewing the initiative taken at the high-level meeting on Wednesday with optimism.
“They have responded creatively and also swiftly after we shared our pain and concerns and that has given us some amount of hope. The chief minister and the concerned offices have responded immediately and have taken decisions and issued orders to implement them and this provides us some respite,” he told the media on Wednesday.
When asked whether the diocese will continue its agitation in the backdrop of the decisions, the bishop said that if the demands raised by the people are met then there is no point in holding an agitation.
The bishop said that though he had not received any personal assurances from the state government, government sources have conveyed that they will stand with the farmers of Kerala. “This decision has helped to lessen the concerns raised by the people here. The decision to provide more time to people to raise complaints gives us hope,” he said.
