RAJKOT: Three men allegedly gang raped a Class 8 student in Junagadh over a period of four months.
According to the Junagadh taluka police, the 15-year-old rape survivor even stopped going to school for the past two months fearing the sexual assaults after which her parents, residents of a village outside Junagadh town, came to know about the girl’s ordeal and approached the police.
Based on their plaint, cops arrested Yash Dudhatra (25), Keyur Vaghadiya (28) and Divyesh Gajera (31) on Wednesday. The accused are booked under IPC sections 363, 376 (D)(A), 376 (2)(N) and Pocso Act.
Police sub inspector of Junagadh taluka police station, S A Gadhvi said, “The minor was gang raped multiple times over the past six months. It started when she came out in the evening to throw garbage and Dudhatra, who was her neighbour, came to the spot along with another accused. The duo gagged her and took her to an isolated spot where they raped her. The duo also threatened to kill her father and brother if she disclosed the crime to anyone.”
According to the police, the minor was raped at knife point several times when she would come home during recess or after after school got over. The accused took her to Dudhatra’s farm four times and to an isolated place two more times, said the police.
Distraught, the minor discontinued going to school for the past two months even though she did not disclose about her ordeal to anyone.
She remained upset and even avoided going out of her home. When her father, a blacksmith by profession, insisted on her going to school, the minor broke down revealed that she would prefer to die than step out of home and described her ordeal.
